Dos congresistas en EE.UU., uno del Partido Republicano y el otro del Demócrata, presentaron este martes un proyecto de ley que pretende facilitar cambios en la tutela legal de Britney Spears y otras personas afectadas por la misma medida.

La iniciativa, que pone de ejemplo el caso de la cantante, lleva por nombre “ley de libertad y derecho a emanciparse de la explotación” (freedom and right to emancipate from exploitation act), que responde a FREE Act por sus siglas en inglés, un guiño al movimiento #FreeBritney.

“Con la FREE Act, liberaríamos a Britney junto a la innumerable cantidad de ancianos y personas con discapacidades abusadas y explotadas por un sistema roto”, aseguró en un comunicado el congresista demócrata Charlie Crist (Florida), impulsor del proyecto junto a la republicana Nancy Mace (Carolina del Sur). La ley permitiría que las personas tuteladas puedan pedir la retirada de un tutor y reemplazarlo por otro familiar, empleado público o profesional privado.
