Pfizer busca probar una tercera dosis y una vacuna contra la cepa sudafricana

El dúo estadounidense-alemán Pfizer-BioNTech dijo el jueves que estudia añadir una tercera dosis a su régimen de vacunas contra covid-19, así como probar una nueva versión dirigida a la variante sudafricana del virus. “Estamos tomando múltiples medidas para actuar con decisión y estar preparados en caso de que una cepa se vuelva resistente a la protección que ofrece la vacuna”, dijo Albert Bourla, director general de Pfizer, en un comunicado. La variante sudafricana del virus se considera una de las más peligrosas porque evade parte de la acción de bloqueo que ejercen los anticuerpos contra la cepa más antigua.
